Common Questions

Everything you need to know about our riverside walks and Avoca experiences

Yes, our walks are specifically designed for active seniors. The Mill Pond Loop is mostly flat at around 3km, while the Meeting of Waters walk covers 2.5km with gentle inclines. We always include rest spots and move at a relaxed pace—it's about enjoying the scenery, not racing.

Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are perfect—mild weather and fewer crowds. Summer works too, though it can get busy near the Handweavers. Winter walks are quieter and atmospheric if you don't mind cooler temperatures.

Absolutely. Our Avoca Artisan Trail includes a guided walk that ends at the Handweavers studio where you can watch the weavers at work, ask questions, and shop for pieces. The studio's open year-round (closed Christmas Day only), so you've got plenty of flexibility.

Good walking shoes with grip are all you need—paths are well-maintained but can be muddy after rain. Bring water, a light jacket, and a small backpack. Walking poles are optional but helpful on the gentle slopes, especially if you're less confident on uneven ground.

We keep groups small—usually 6-12 people—so you get a more personal experience and can chat with the guide without shouting over crowds. This also means we can adjust pace based on the group's needs.

It's where the Avoca and Ovoca rivers meet in one of Ireland's most scenic spots. Beyond the view, you'll learn about the rivers' industrial history—powering mills and supporting communities for centuries. The walk itself is gentle and takes about 90 minutes including stops for stories and photos.
